Explored. Denver Weekend Warrior.

fallweekendSometimes my hubby and I can be pretty lazy... or pretty boring really. Lazy is the wrong word. We are not bar-hoping, late-night people. We never have been- even when we were dating in college. I mean... Halloween was a late night for us going to bed around 11.30.But... some weekends we feel inspired to go all over the place and try a bunch new things... just as long as we can get to bed on time. So I have some evidence of our weekend warrior excursions around awesome Denver, CO.Initially we were going to go the Denver Botanic Gardens, but it closed early for a special event. This has been our third attempt to go to the botanic gardens this year... and each time something keeps up from going. It has become a bit of a running joke for us. Anyway we decided to head to a brewery that my hubby has been wanting to visit when we were very abruptly distracted by Voodoo Doughnut.voodoodonuts2voodoodonuts1Voodoo Doughnut is this ridiculously awesome doughnut shop that you can only find in Oregon and Colorado. They have crazy doughnut options- like my two personal favorites the Captain My Captain (the Captain Crunch one) and Triple Chocolate Penetration (lol... the Coco Puffs one). My hubby picked out the Marshall Mathers (the one with m&m's) and the Memphis Mafia (the gigantic one with chocolate and peanut butter). Check out their entire menu.We were there during a slow time (3.00pm on a Saturday) and we waited a good twenty minutes in line... beware if you land there during a peak time because you can look at a couple hours in line before you can get your doughnuts. Also- they are a cash only establishment so keep that in mind if you go. :)rivernorth1rivernorth2Our next stop was the brewery my hubby was after before we were distracted by doughnuts- River North Brewery. My hubby loves their Unified Theory which is a oak aged imperial wit ale while I like their White. I'm not a big fan of the barrel aged beers- but my hubby loves them. River North does a lot of speciality, unique beers and special releases. Their tap room is smaller, but really nice and lets you see into the brewery itself were you can see the barrels aging the beers my hubby is so into.foodtruck1foodtruck2foodtruck3While we were at River North Brewery we grabbed food at the food truck parked next to it- WikiPita. It was a pretty  good food truck although honestly not a favorite of mine- but I liked it. It really hit the spot after all that sugar from my like two bites from my doughnut. We ordered a Gyro and some Chicken Fingers- yum they hit the spot.
