Through Your Own Eyes

This is the one of the most amazing things I have seen in a very long time- as far as beauty and what you see when you look in the mirror. Watching it literally choked me up- how many times have I stared in the mirror and focused solely on the features that I hate... focused solely on the features that I feel make me less than beautiful. I'm sometimes uncomfortable with the shape of my nose and the fact that my hair is a little hard to manage (and not the standard beautiful straight hair). You would probably never notice if you met me but my ears are off balance by a tiny bit- but I know this and I have stressed out about it too. I could go on truly... and list every flaw that I have ever obsessed over.

Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see. ~Dove Real Beauty Sketches

I love they're tagline- Imagine a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety.Β Beautiful right? What an amazing world to aspire too?And I have seen many comments about how silly we are all being buying into this experiment from a beauty company that aims to sell more beauty products. Here's the thing- I don't care who says it truly. Cause if you watch the video and don't care about who produced it... and you see the truth in it. The truth that when you look at yourself in the mirror you are harsh and critical to yourself when you shouldn't be... isn't that something that should be said and should be heard? You are your harshest critic... what I found truly inspiring about this video was the way the 'strangers' were depicting the women they had met (which I understand was great editing). It was still amazing.
