just a little stressful

I know that today is a weekly weigh-in... but I just couldn't get on the scale today. Yesterday was a rough day for me at work. It was incredibly stressful and left me completely exhausted. I woke up dreading coming in today because of what was waiting for me- and I just stood there staring at the scale for a few moments before deciding that I was going to remove any more possible stress from my life and not step on that scale.Instead of sharing my weight loss notes with you today I thought I would share my favorite stress-relieving tool (besides eating... which I'm trying not to do). I drink tea. I drink tea almost daily, but I particularly reach for a glass of strong herbal tea whenever I feel a little stressed. When I feel a little stressed about possibly getting sick (yes- I stress out when I feel like I'm getting sick)- i steep up lots of tea with echinacea and peppermint. When I'm stressed about work or life- rooibos teas are my absolutely favorite.

i use both tea bags and loose leaf... but i prefer loose leaf.

Quick List of Stress Relieving Teas

Mint: While I generally add mint to my tea mainly for its aromatic flavor- peppermint and spearmint in tea helps me relax my thoughts. Sidenote: It’s also an excellent for fitting upset stomach!Rooibos: This is without a doubt one of my favorite teas. It has wonderful a sweet, nutty flavor and is naturally caffeine-free (plus- it gets sweeter the long it steeps... instead of more bitter). Rooibos is particularly good at raising my mood and fighting my occasional insomnia along with its power at stress relief. Sidenote: It is also said to improve your metabolism and decrease harmful free radicals.Chamomile: Here's the thing. I don't like the way Chamomile tastes- so I only pull it out when I have really bad insomnia from a lot of stress and when I do that I add some honey to it (I'm usually an all-natural type of gal with tea) but this a very rare occurrence as my other go-to teas usually work very well. Sidenote: It is well-known for its abilities to reduce nausea and indigestion and stabilizing moods.Ginseng: One of the most popular herbal tea ingredients is Ginseng- and does pretty much everything else that the other teas mentioned above do (not including the side notes). So to a certain extent- a lot of it has to do with your personal preferences.Honeybush: Update: I just recently tried this one. It was infused with Valerian root (see below) so I have not tried it on its own yet. Original Post Content: I personally have not tried this one yet- but is said to be similar Rooibos, and carries with it similar benefits with antioxidants and stress relief.Valerian: Update: I just recently tried this one. It reminded me of chamomile a little- only stronger. So yeah- not my favorite, but it was very potent and stress reliving. I did use honeybush (see above) to ease up the flavor which was very helpful. I should try it with a little honey too. Original Post Content: I have not tried this one either- but it is said to be very bitter and heavy tasting, is also one of the more potent stress reducers. I've been told that when I do try it to cover the taste with other herbs like lemongrass, Honeybush, or Rooibos.Sources : A Healthy Us & Finest Herbal Tea & personal experience
