Small and Undistracted. Micro Cabin.

When I moved out of my parents house into the unknown wild of what is Denver- I left a itty bitty little town. It has really been since recently that I have begun to miss a particular part of where I grew up.Namely - I miss being able to escape away from life to the Grand Mesa to camp (with a cabin... seriously I don't like sleeping on the ground). I completely lost cellphone and internet service (sounds awful huh?) and had no to access to flushing toilets (yes... I used outhouses). We did have a couple luxuries though- we had running water for showers and to wash our hands and dishes (in sinks - no dishwasher), a generator so we could turn on a few lights at night, and the coolest potbelly stoves and open fire places for when we would go up in the winter.I loved it and I miss it. Don't get me wrong I went through that expected teenage phase where this is horrible and awful and I couldn't believe my parents made me spend my summers up with them and my aunts and uncles and cousins. I miss it a lot though... we are a close nit family and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that we spent so much undistracted time with each other. We had board games and card games to entertain us. We all had to participate prepare the meals (there are a lot of us). We all had to pitch in to keep the little collection of cabins and outhouses clean.Anyway when I stumbled across this micro cabin on Apartment Therapy it reminded me of those summers (and sometimes winters) camping with my family. I would love to purchase a tiny little cabin in the mountains an hour (or so) drive from the city where my hubby and I can hide away for a weekend or so and disconnect from the world. This particular cabin is in Tahoe, California and is owned by Tim and Hannah. They built it themselves- using as much reclaimed and recycled materials as possible.
