to get caught up in a different world

Sorry I didn't post yesterday (to make up for it I am posting twice today - I will still do a weekly weigh-in).I was finishing up a book I was reading (you might remember I set a goal for myself for reading new books this year... several several posts back... here). I don't know if you have this problem- but I super super into books I am reading. I completely lose track of the world and read for hours straight (my husband says he doesn't have a wife when I'm reading a book). I'm also a fast reader and can usually finish a 300 page book in one sitting (so I'm not in book comatose for very long which is nice).Anyway... Here are a few books I have read recently (I'm over my goal for the year!). I don't really have a favorite genre of books- so I'm just a tiny bit all over the place....

The Help - Amazing Book Title : The HelpAuthor : Kathryn StockettDo I Recommend this Book? Absolutely

If you haven't read this book- read it... and if you haven't seen this movie- you should see it. Amazing!

It is just an amazing book (and movie.... pretty much just an amazing story). Tells the story of strength, courage, and hope in the midst of segregation and racism in the south in the 1960's. It is just an incredible story. I will be rereading this one. This goes on my 'favorite books' list. :D

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter Title : Abraham Lincoln Vampire HunterAuthor : Seth Grahame-SmithDo I Recommend this Book? Yes

This is a great read- maybe not for everyone if you are not into pseudo-historical books. Obviously this one is not fully accurate, but the author took great pains making everything surrounding the vampire storyline to be accurate.

My husband and I listened to this while we were driving around and we were pleasantly surprised. It was well written, fun but with a serious tone, and well worth it.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Title : Pride and Prejudice and ZombiesAuthor : Jane Austen & Seth Grahame-SmithDo I Recommend the Book? Yes

My husband and I picked this one up after reading Seth Grahame-Smith's other book (the one previous on this list). Again- we purchased it as an audio book for a long road trip we were taking.

We liked Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter a little better- only because you have to get used to the language used here (the author kept is accurate to the language Jane Austen wrote the original in). Other than that- it was great. We really enjoyed it.

A Billion Reasons Why Title : A Billion Reasons WhyAuthor : Kristin BillerbeckDo I Recommend this Book? Nope

I didn't like this book... and almost didn't put it in this list because I didn't like it at all. I read it though... so here it is.

The plot felt messy to me... and the character development wasn't all that great. I don't even really know how to describe the plot to you... it was just messy. I finished it only because it was a pretty short read, but I don't recommend it to anyone else. Luckily, I got it on sale for super cheap.

Dune Title : DuneAuthor : Frank HerbertDo I Recommend this Book? Yes

With a sidenote- I probably wouldn't recommend this book to everyone... say you're not really into sci-fi at all then I probably wouldn't recommend this book. But it is an awesome story and along the epic feel as the Lord of the Rings (I loved Lord of the Rings by the way). I don't get into very many sic-fi or fantasy books... but it is hard to not get into the great ones. My husband really likes this storyline so I read it. :)

It is set on different worlds with advanced technologies... alien creatures and advance human species. It is grand and epic.
