Styled. Church Service to Egg Hunting with a Twist.

Easter was always an exciting time for me when I was little. It always meant a pretty new spring dress for the holiday... and boy did I love my flowery, pastely dresses when I was little.Easter though could be a little chilly here in Colorado and then I wanted to run around hunting for easter eggs with my family- so usually I would end up in some pants and a sweater of some sort. Strangely enough... that usually happens these days too. I wear a cute dress or skirt to church... and then immediately want to throw on a pair of pants as soon as I can when I get back home with family. All this makes it quite the struggle really after buying a new dress or outfit... so I started picking out a cute new sweater or the like that I can pair with a skirt and with a pair of pants. Like this absolutely adorable sweater I found at J. Crew (yeah! gift cards!)... I just love love love the beaded florals on the sleeves. It has modern short cut and it is sooo comfortable.Oh and now that I'm older... I'm also like to find a fresh and springy cocktail to pair with my cute new outfit. :)2015_0401_easteroutfits

For the lavender syrup:1 cup granulated sugar1 cup water2 tablespoons dried culinary lavenderFor the cocktail:1 1/2 ounces vodka3/4 ounce lavender syrup1/4 ounce Page's Parfait Amour3/4 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezedSoda waterLavender flower, for garnish (optional)

Directions

1. For the lavender syrup:Add the sugar, water, and lavender to a small saucepan, and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup has come to a simmer. Cook for 2 more minutes, and then take it off the heat and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Strain the lavender out; chill before using. Store refrigerated in an airtight container.2. For the cocktail:Add the vodka, lavender syrup, Page's Parfait Amour, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, and strain into an ice-filled collins glass. Top off with soda water, and garnish with a sprig of lavender, if using.

Notes

Look for sprigs of culinary lavender at the farmers market; dried can be found in the spice section of some supermarkets or online. If you can't find sprigs of fresh culinary lavender for the garnish, then omit it, or sprinkle each glass with a pinch of dried culinary lavender.*recipe from popsugar via Bluestem Brasserie
