Freebie. Valentine's Day Card.

Oh hello February- I have a Valentine Day Card Freebie for you!Valentine's is one of those weird holiday's I think where there are really drastic opinions about it. Is all about romance? Is it a holiday set up by the card and floral industry? Shrug. I don't know. I was looking around to see where the whole tradition of Valentine's Day come from and the Saint behind it.One legend that I found says that Valentine was a priest during the third century in Rome. Emperor Claudius II outlawed marriage for young men after he decided that single men were better soldiers. Valentine, realized the injustice of the decree and defied Claudius by continuing to marry young lovers in secret (oooh... scandalously romantic). When he was discovered, the emperor ordered that he be put to death.Then another story that I found suggested that Valentine may have been killed for trying to help Christians escape Roman prisons. After Valentine was imprisoned (you know... before he died) he actually sent the first “valentine” greeting when he fell in love with a young girl who visited him while he was imprisoned. Supposedly he wrote her a letter signed “From Your Valentine,” which we are all familiar with these days.There is also a lot more about Valentine's Day that I was unaware about- with the festival of Lupercalia.
