Rembrandt Two Hour Whitening Kit.

2013_1113_rembrandtwhiteningHonest moment here- Yes. I whiten my teeth. And another honest moment- I used to whiten my teeth via photoshop whenever I found a picture where I'm flashing my not-so-pearly whites.  My teeth were just a bit yellow (bleck)- nothing horrible, but definitely not great. Just the effects of lots and lots of coffee. I try to keep it fairly "natural" looking and not glow-in-the-dark white. My husband verifies that if I wanted I could still go another shades whiter without looking silly (maybe he's just trying to make me feel better... but he swears up and down he's not).I have tried a couple different whitening strips (you know like the ones that adhere to your teeth?) before and I HATED them. I hated hated hated they way they felt on... I hated the slobbery feel and the taste and everything. Hate hate them. I could never commit to them long enough to make a difference- and I know I have a box of whitening strips hiding somewhere in my home. They were a bit pricey and I keep kicking myself for buying them. Overall- those may work great for you- but I personally will not recommend them.So then I chatted with my dentist about it... and he of course had a very very pricey tray option that I just couldn't justify. So I started thinking more about trying an at home whitening system that uses customizable trays. So after a bit of research (not a huge amount really) I decided to try Rembrandt's two-hour whitening kit.My favorite thing about this system (other than the price) is the fact that you customize the trays that come with the pack to your teeth so they are comfortable for what they are- mind you they are not over the top high end, but they really get the job done. Overall I really liked this system. Yes, the taste isn't the best (but that just comes with the whitening territory) but the custom fit trays help keep the whitening gel away from your tongue. Also, they way they have it set up is you do four sets if 20 minutes each- which I didn't do all in one sitting. I spread it out over four days because I have very sensitive gums and I was a little nervous about how my gums would handle it. While the trays are in and the gel is against your teeth I did feel some discomfort (like a burning sensation)- but it was definitely bearable and I think it helped that I didn't do it all in one day.So these days - about once a week I'll do a twenty minute session just to maintain. My teeth are sensitive for only a few minutes after I take it out and then my gums are a little tender for that day- but I only really feel that when I'm flossing. I don't have any issues with eating or drinking.
