today is a good day
So considering everything going on right now... it has been a great day. Today is my birthday! I am twenty-four years old. :DI do apologize for not posting- life has been a touch crazy these past few days. I started getting pretty sick Sunday night, but still went to work on Monday (suffered through... I was pretty miserable). I did stay home from work yesterday though since I was feeling well and had a doctor's appointment concerning my foot. Remember how I stepped on something almost three months ago? Well it still had not healed completely... and this is where my story gets really interesting. Ready for a little story? At the doctor's office my doctor decided it was best to cut back into my toe because he believed there was something in there. So first comes two numbing shots that hurt like nothing else, but I dug up some unknown strength and didn't cry or wiggle around (I focused on breathing and knowing that the doctor had a huge needle in my foot that could possibly cause more damage and pain if I jerked around at all... yeah that helped). Then the poor doctor started digging around and we heard a lovely scrapping noise (I didn't see anything... I can't handle blood at all- and they can't stop your blood flow in your toe or you might loose it so I assume there was quite a bit of blood). It took the doctor an hour and another shot of numbing juice to get a piece of glass a half inch long and two other small pieces of glass... yes you read that right. There was a piece of glass a HALF INCH LONG in my foot for the past three months or so.Initially the doctor didn't think any stitches would be necessary. He also didn't think whatever foreign body was in my toe wasn't very deep... but it was very deep (hence the hour to get it out). So I now have two stitches in my toe and some antibiotics (just in case). At this point my toe was nice and numb and I couldn't feel it much, so I headed on home and waited for my hubby to come home because he informed me I would be receiving my birthday present. So when he gets home he quickly ushers me to the car (as fast as my funny limp will allow me) and made me put a blindfold on (he's all about surprises). He then drove me to his best friend's mother's house... where I took my very first piano lessons! :DI've been wanting to learn the piano for a very long time and mentioned it to my husband. My handsome hubby has a gift for gift giving and he blew me away with the piano lessons... but then when we get home from the lessons (during which we had talked about getting a little electric piano for me to practice on and he informed me that we just couldn't afford it yet) there is a beautiful brand new electric piano waiting for me in our music room/office. He had his brother sneak into our apartment and set it up while we were at my lesson. :DThen today (on my actual birthday) it snowed like crazy and it was pretty hard to walk in my boots (the stitches did not like my boots). Plus the drive to work was a little crazy- but my coworkers and I did our gift exchange (I love my coworkers) and we all went out to lunch for my birthday. Then we all headed home to work from home safe from the roads. :DSo to sum up my crazy past couple of days... got sick (I'm feeling much better today thank you), had "minor" surgery on my toe, was surprised with piano lessons and a piano, and a wonderful little tiny Christmas party with my coworkers... and I'm pretty happy and content with my birthday. Yes... my toe hurts like crazy, but its almost a good hurt since I know that I should be 100% again in about two weeks. I own a piano and get to learn how to play it. Life is wonderfully crazy.
