creative working girl
I didn't complete my water drinking challenge as well as I wanted to- so I'm continuing that on for this week. While I'm going that I thought I would leave you with this thought.I think I have mentioned that I am a graphic designer... but I'm not sure that I have mentioned that I'm an in-house designer for a online company based in Golden, Colorado. Luckily for me- the attire 'rules' are fairly relaxed. The absolute most lovely thing about being a 'designer' is that I'm expected to not adhere strictly to the common attire expectations for working women. Overall thought I'm pretty simple in my clothing choices- jeans, tshirts, scraves, and ballet flats are my go-to staple items (with variation of course... but that's what I feel most comfortable in). While that is perfectly fine attire for my day to day outfits- sometimes I have meetings with some of the chief level people and feel the need to look a tiny bit more professional. This was my most recent outfit for such an occasion.
1. Black Jeans from American EagleI kind of loathe slacks with a passion. Yes - they're a staple item, and I do own a couple pairs. I just don't feel comfortable in therm. Luckily I'm allowed to wear jeans to work, so when I want to dress it up just a tiny bit more I reach for my black jeans.2. Favorite T-Shirt from TargetI love this shirt sooo much. It looks a little nicer then your everyday tshirt- its smoother and it just feels overall like a better quality shirt- but it is just as comfortable as any of my other tshirts. Love it.3. Black Cardigan from TargetCardigans are my first choice when adding a more polished look to my generally simple wardrobe- but I also have a couple blazers that I will use to do that same thing.4. Funky Scarf from Forever 21Scarves are my go-to accessory item. I love how they can make a lower cut shirt much more presentable and that they can spruce up my favorite tshirts without much effort (like 'Oh look - she put a little more effort into her outfit than just throwing on jeans and a tshirt).5. Black Ballet Flats from DSWI can't wear heals... I have a back injury and I just can't handle heals very much with messing with my back. So flats are pretty much my best friend ever (I think I own like ten pairs of flats in relation to my three pairs of heals). I have flats for almost every occasion - and when I'm aiming for a more professional look I grab a pair that are either patent leather or have a little detail of patent leather. I also grab ones with smaller extraneous details (like bows or sequins or flowers).(This is probably my thriftiest 'work' outfit... I'll have to share one of my higher-quality, lasts-forever staple pieces one of these days so everyone doesn't think I only buy cheap clothing! sheesh) ;)
