Pop Poppies. Art Series.

My hubby bought me an iPad Pro (with an Apple Pencil) for Christmas this past year and since then I have been painting and doodling and handlettering constantly.

I used to paint a lot- and a few of my paintings still hang in our house. But since moving into our house (not sure why that affected it) I stopped painting so much… then when I got pregnant I decided that for the sake of the nursery I had to give up most of my painting supplies.

The new iPad sparked this brand new, refreshed joy of painting in me. I mean… I don’t have to set up anything. I don’t have to clean up after. I can start and stop with zero worry about paint drying or not drying.

Now I want to share it all. When I was younger I was so scared to share any of my paintings or doodles with anyone- and I’m tired of being scared. Art is art. You connect with it or you don’t. I’m okay with that.

So here’s my first new little series and… I call it Pop Poppies.

Hello May! Downloadable Calendar Freebie.

Hello May! And hello free May 2019 calendar. Still very unpredictable spring here in Denver- but buds are starting to appear on the trees and things are starting to look bright and green. It still snows (like it did on Monday) and gets pretty cold occasionally (like it has been all week).

My office has officially moved to downtown Denver- and it is pretty awesome. It has added a bit of time (and stress) to my commute- but I’m figuring it out. It’s a welcome adjustment- and I’m very glad that the actual move is over. :)

Sadly… we did say goodbye to my grandmother as well in April. We flew out for the funeral as a family and all mourned together. She was an incredible woman and affected so many people’s lives. We will miss her so so so much.

Baby girl is crawling and pulling herself up to standing. We’ve entered the stage where we turn from her for just a moment and when we turn back she’s across the room standing against the couch. I’ll be cooking and feel something touching my foot and look down to find her pulling on my pants. It’s fun and nerve racking and awesome- all at once.

Life is still good. And as always I hope that life is good for you too.

Click through for the download links. I have added a new size for the desktop options (get excited those of you with hi-res screens). As always FYI- they are just images that you just save to your device to then make your wallpaper. :)

Hello April! Downloadable Calendar Freebie.

free April 2019 downloads

Hello April! And hello free April 2019 calendar. Spring is definitely here in Denver- meaning one day its 70 degrees outside and then the next day it’s not even 40 degrees and snows. Anyone else live in a climate like that (meaning spring is utterly unpredicable)?

This spring is bringing lots of change for me. I haven’t always handled change well in the past- but I’m feeling a bit more calm in my bones right now. I still have my moments (just ask my hubby how I handled packing for my trip to Michigan), but I think the calm is outweighing the anxiety more and more these days.

My office is gearing up to move to a brand new building. It was going to happen in March… but it didn’t. *shrug* It’s going to be a whole new commute that might be a little bit icky- but the building itself is amazing.

Plus- my time in Michigan made it clear that we will be saying goodbye to my grandma soon. It’s a hard fact to face and another change to my life… but the catch is that she is ready. She’s tired and has lived a beautiful life. I feel strongly that this is part of the beauty of everything- the grief and the letting go.

Baby girl is growing (still… always… too fast). She’s eating more solid foods now- sweet potato, green beans, peas, and squash. We are now giving her two solid feedings a day- at her lunchtime feeding and her dinner time feeding. Still no teeth (not complaining). She sits so confidently now and loves to sit in front of her toy box and pull everything out by herself (she wants you nearby- but she wants to do it by herself).

Life is still good. And as always I hope that life is good for you too.

Hello March! Downloadable Calendar Freebie.

Hello March! And of course hello free March 2019 calendar. Spring should be coming soon right? right? We’ve been getting more snow these past few weeks- so it is rather hard to imagine spring is coming right at the moment.

Of course, we’ve also had a bunch of really warm days… Denver is not the place to expect an easy transition to spring. I only expect recognize spring when its turning into summer.

Baby girl is growing- loving her oatmeal and is all about putting everything in her mouth. She is particularly fascinated by anything that her daddy or I might have in our hands- specifically pop cans, cups, and our phones.

I’m going out with baby girl and my momma to Michigan to spend more time with my beloved grandmother. Soak up some time.

Life is good. And I hope that life is good for you too.

Click through for the download links. Oh and FYI- someone asked me if these would work on their Android device and I’m pretty sure they will- they are just images that you can save to your device to then make your wallpaper. :)

Also… sidenote: the images have the wrong calendar- but the downloads are correct.

Hello February! Downloadable Calendar Freebie.

Hello February! Hello free February 2019 calendar. I hope that everyone is feeling awesome and that the year feels fresh and exciting still. I’ve got some cute paper hearts in honor of Valentine’s Day coming up here soon. Anyone else miss the days of hand made hearts cut out of paper and stuck together with glue sticks?

Life just keeps moving. We’re watching baby girl learn all these new things and experience the world in a way that we’ve long forgotten. She’s going to be starting solid foods here shortly- just a little oatmeal once a day to get her going. She just a wonderfully happy and expressive baby. I can’t get enough of her.

On the other hand, there is another feeling setting in- my grandmother isn’t doing very well at the moment. I feel like our hearts are beginning to face the idea that we will have to say goodbye soon.

It is all part of the complex beauty of life though- don’t you think? The joy with the grief- there is no escaping one without losing the other.

Click through for the download links. Oh and FYI- someone asked me if these would work on their Android device and I’m pretty sure they will- they are just images that you can save to your device to then make your wallpaper. :)

Baby Girl’s Birth Story. Welcome to the World.

My baby girl is four and a half months old now guys- I’m fully back to work and getting back into what feels like normal life. New normal as everyone always points out to us. Yes- things are different now, but I love it. She is the most amazing thing I have ever seen and I just can’t believe she is real sometimes.

Merrick Belle was born September 6, 2018, at 5.20 am. She weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

I labored for a week. Baby girl was stubborn and refused to drop down. Even as my body contracted for a week to push her down- she stayed put.

Early Labor (aka lots of uncomfortable waiting)

It started August 28th (which was a Tuesday and two days before my due date). I started feeling contractions around noon that were irregular and only mildly annoying. Things progressed (sort of) as the doctors told us they would. The contractions slowly grew in intensity but not really in consistency. I remember that pretty clearly as my hubby religiously timed them to ease his anxiety.

Be warned… this is her birth story. I tried not to get very graphic- but there are just some things that can’t be skirted around well. If this sort of thing bothers you… please don’t click through.
